Lessons Learned from Sarai for Dreamers.
Dear Dreamer Friends!
I had a letter prepared full of “Woo oo’s!” and “GO! girl” and “You can do it!” and I am hoping there are lots of those letters out there because as dreamers we need the encouragement. But as I wrote last night a story kept pushing on my heart. A story of a dreamer girl from days of old. A story that serves as a lesson for us dreamer girls of today to learn from.
I had to follow the prompting and scribble out all that was written for this…
Her name was Sarai and she had a dream. Her story can be found in a fabulous book called Genesis. She had a dream to have a child. And the fulfillment of that dream and more had been promised to her by God. But Sarai lost her patience in waiting for God to bring that dream to reality for her so she took matters into own hands.
Have you ever done that? Have you ever lost patience with waiting for your dream to come to realization and tried to take the reins? I have.
Sarai wanted a baby so badly that she willingly told her maid servant and her husband to sleep together. She lost complete faith that God would bring her dream into this world so she forced her dream into this world. The results. NOT GOOD! Jealousy, anger, a baby left fatherless, a woman abandoned by her home.
Have you ever done this? Tried to force your dream into this world? Have you ever decided things needed to work on your timing and not God’s timing? I have.
Thankfully, our God is a rescuer. Despite the chaos created by Sarai and all involved in her story God continued to say “I will set this right, I will still provide the dream according to My will.”
Has God ever rescued you from your own wrong turns in your dream? Has God ever taken your hand and said “It is time to let Me do the work?” For me the answer is “YES!” Thank God!!! He has rescued me in ways I could have never imagined.
Fellow dreamers it can be so easy to pull a Sarai. It is so easy to take these dreams that stir us, wake us up, keep us up, give us energy and try to force them into being. I am so very guilty of this but each time I attempt this I crash. I then have to hold dearly onto the promise that God will set everything in motion His way. He knows how the story needs to go and as long as I place my hand in His hand He will guide the way.
“My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth” Psalm 121:2
Our God created heaven and earth! His imagination is on the grandest scale ever fathomable, His power is endless and we are privileged to be His hands and feet here on earth. Put your trust in that today knowing that the dream that rests in your heart will be fulfilled but it will be fulfilled His way. And really we would not want it any other way.
