Yikes! The Supermom cape is dirty.

supermom cape

Every mom IS a super hero. You wake up with your cape on and you are ready to fight germs and not good choices.

Your powers:

  • The ability to hear five conversations at once and know exactly what everyone is saying.
  • Flipping pancakes, doing laundry, the dishes, and your makeup all at the same time.
  • Posting to Instagram, breaking up a sibling fight, and wiping a chocolate-milk covered face all while driving. (not the safest power we posses)

You may not be a bird, or a plane but you are SUPERMOM! We thrive off of being needed and valuable. BUT there comes that inevitable day when your cape is filthy and it MUST go into the laundry. What then? Who are you without the cape? Do you know?

Every super hero also has a real identity.

Do you know these women?

Hard to believe THEY are super heroes. And the same is true for you. Take off the cape and superpower belt and you are {insert your name}. Way before you were a mom you were created by God as His precious child. You were created with unique gifts and talents that make you extra-ordinary cape or no cape.

“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.” Jeremiah 31:3

As much as you love, care, and want the best of the best for your child(ren) God is looking down on you and wanting to see you thrive in all that He has called you to do.

“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” 1 John 3:1

More often than not though I am hearing women say things like…

  • “I feel lost.”
  • “I don’t even remember what brings me joy.”
  • “I feel overwhelmed.”
  • “I don’t feel like enough.”
  • “I don’t feel confident.”

I just imagine God looking down being sad. Hanging His head and thinking

“Why can’t they see what I see?”

Why can’t you? What is in the way?

Strip away the cape, the title of “mom”, the beautifully framed family portraits and know that God sees YOU and wants you to see who He sees too.

What will it take?

The dryer buzzer will go off…will you give your self permission to let the cape get wrinkly and spend just a bit more time simply being  you?

P.S. – 100 billion bloggy points to the person who can connect the real identities with the right super hero.
