2017 Must Read Devotionals

How do you start your day? I used to wake up and immediately, Pin all the cute things I could find on Pinterest, leaving no room for God time in the morning. I made a commitment to myself in 2013 to wake up, roll over, and leave my phone where it was to pick up a devotional instead. I encourage you to to do the same in 2017!

Here is a list of must-read devotionals for 2017:

  1. Craving Connection: 30 Challenges for Real-Life Engagement

We all long for meaningful relationships, the Colossians 3:14 kind that fulfill our desire for unity and connection with God, our friends, and our community. But where do we start? Craving Connection is a journey with (in)courage writers sharing real-life stories, practical Scripture application, and connection challenges. I am thrilled about this book, coming out in January, because I am a contributor to this wonderful devotional!

  1. Made to Crave Devotional

This 60 day devotional is a huge help for people struggling with food issues. Author Lysa TerKeurst released the book, “Made to Crave,” providing the Biblical answer to why people diet, regain the weight they lose, and continue to find themselves stuck in this vicious cycle. This Devotional is the follow up to that book to help you stay on track.

  1. Bread for the Journey

When author Henri Nouwen set out to record this daybook of totally new reflections, he suddenly found himself on “a true spiritual adventure.” For in these 366 original, interlocking morsels of daily wisdom, Nouwen provides both sustenance and a trail for us to follow, as he unveils, to his own surprise, his personal map of faith. From the delicate interplay of human experience to the surrender to Christ and the embrace of Christian community, that journey of Christian spirituality is explored and celebrated in “Bread for the Journey.”

  1. Prayers for the Dreamers and Doers

More and more women are weaving their stories, their burdens and their God-given gifts into big dreams, intentional businesses and God’s work. I’ve been blessed enough to help some of them on their journeys. This book was created to keep you tethered to your faith and to the Lord, who without His saving grace, all dreaming and doing is in vain. Written by an inspiring group of dreamers and doers, the prayers and scripture that fill these pages are written to accompany you on this the journey of brilliant dreams and scary risks, weary struggles and joyful success, inspiring ideas and fears of failure….all in light of how God has created us to be and to do all things well….not perfectly, but {well}.
