Dear God Letters

God, do you get sad?

God, Do you ever get sad? Or saddened?

Daily. Constantly. Watching My children hurt, watching them hurt each other, and watching them hurt themselves is saddening.

What do you do about it?

Why? Why are you asking?

Because I have just been in a sad place myself. It is not a familiar place for me. I feel uneasy about it. Unsure.

Where does your sadness comes from?

I am not even sure it really matters. I know it is silly. I know it doesn’t compare to Yours.

It does matter. It matters to Me.

Well if you must know it comes from being

looked over,

looked past,

forgotten,

ignored,

and de-valued.

It comes from watching others be taken advantage of.

It comes from expectations that have turned into disappointments.

It comes from wanting to be seen as You see me…as I know You see me.

Then isn’t that what matters? Why does someone else need to see you as I see you when how I see you is all that needs to be seen?

Say that again?

It sounds to me like you are looking for validation, affirmation, and encouragement in the wrong places.

Oh brother! Is it really wrong to seek a pat on the back or a kind word from another?

No, not wrong but also not necessary to allow you to feel worth.

Your worth and your value comes because who I created you to be and I see that as bright as the sun and the moon. I see you shining, lighting the way, and creating paths that you were designed to create. I know what you want. I know you want it to be recognized.  I know you want this story to have a different ending but it doesn’t. It has the just right ending for you. Trust me. Trust me.

I trust you. I just want to scribble some things out.

You are my pen and I am your paper. Rest in My hand.

“My friends, we are talking this way. But we are sure that you are doing those really good things that people do when they are being saved. God is always fair. He will remember how you helped his people in the past and how you are still helping them. You belong to God, and he won’t forget the love you have shown his people. We wish that each of you would always be eager to show how strong and lasting your hope really is. Then you would never be lazy. You would be following the example of those who had faith and were patient until God kept his promise to them.” Hebrews 6:9-12

As always, thanks for the chat.
